Codale Electric Supply completes new headquarters facility Minimize

(May 12, 2009) SALT LAKE CITY – Codale Electric Supply, a leading independent full-line wholesale electrical distributor based in Salt Lake City, has completed a new 210,000-square-foot headquarters facility located at 5225 West 2400 South. The company held an open house event and mini vendor show on Friday, May 8, 2009.

Spanning a 13-acre lot, the massive headquarters building features 59,000 square feet of office space and a 151,000-square-foot distribution warehouse, and employs some of the most state-of-the-art technologies and products of any electrical distributor in the nation.

In addition to the main building, the company built a 15,000-square-foot facility for the assembly and modification of power substations, part of their fast-growing Modification and Assembly Division (CMAD).

“The entire building is a showcase of the products we carry, as well as the most advanced technologies available in the electrical, lighting, datacom, utility, and energy services industries,” says owner and president Dale P. Holt.

More than 300 different lighting fixtures were installed in the building—every room and office features a different combination of fixtures and lighting controls, which are identified (along with data on average foot-candles and watts-per-square-foot) as part of the building’s interior signage.

Like their former headquarters, the building features the state’s only community-friendly “lighting lab,” where everyone from customers, students, and industry professionals can experience first-hand the latest in lighting and lamp technologies and product offerings.

Another rapidly-growing area of its business, Codale also constructed a high-tech data center within its headquarters building. While the actual, working command center for the entire company’s network operations, the data center also serves as a showpiece, demonstrating the company’s extensive product lines and technical capabilities in the datacom arena. Among its impressive stats, Codale’s data center has utilized the latest virtual server technology to reduce the company’s energy consumption—cutting their CO2 emissions by an estimated 30 tons per year!

With 11 branch locations throughout the Intermountain West, Codale has experienced steady growth since opening its first store—a modest 5,000-square-foot shop on Main Street—in 1975. According to Holt, “Our vision has always been to be the best electrical distributor with the best service, and our new state-of-the-art facilities are another strong part of our ability to do that.”

Codale also just completed a new 36,000-square-foot building in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in December, and its Las Vegas branch moved into a new 86,000-square foot facility in early 2007.
